Year 11 art students spent a wonderful four days in Cornwall, packed full of art, gallery visits, even an art course in St Ives (and of course ice cream!). We made the most of our travelling time with a lesson from Mr Drew on how to draw figures quickly and we did continuous line drawings of the landscape, even managing to fit in an hour of observational drawing when we reached Penzance.
We visited Penlee House Gallery and Musuem, followed by the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens with an opportunity to talk to an artist exhibiting in the gardens. We also visited St Ives, exploring drawing at the Tate and Barbara Hepworth museums, some students went off on a fantastic art course and the 3D art students visited the Leech Pottery.
We also got to explore the Eden Project, capturing the exotic plants and wonderful architecture and creating a panorama of the scenery before returning home to show off our stunning Cornwall sketchbooks.
