The Vocal Department is hugely proud to present this term's online Singers' Concert, which takes the form of staged opera scenes, edited together from live performances and recordings by students in Years 8-Upper Sixth (all filmed within Covid restrictions and regulations). The programme contains excerpts from works by Handel, Purcell, Tchaikovsky, Britten, Mozart, Monteverdi and Puccini, and is testament to the students' dedication and commitment over the past year to bring these performances to life in the most challenging of circumstances. It also features the final performances of a number of the leaving Upper Sixth students, who have contributed such a huge amount to the Vocal Department over their time at St Helen's.
We hope that you will enjoy the varied programme, which serves as an excellent introduction to different operatic styles, and includes firm favourites of those more familiar with the genre. Our Twitter account, @shsksinging, will 'live tweet' the event with reflections from the cast and directors on the performances.
