During Michaelmas term, a cast of 15 from Year 11 performed the play Blue Stockings by Jessica Swale, directed by Miss Jewitt. I played the role of Tess and Amelia played the role of Carolyn. The play was livestreamed from 2–4 December and the plot followed the journey of Tess and her three friends, Carolyn, Maeve and Celia in their first year at Girton College, Cambridge, as they fought to try and win the right to graduate, whilst meeting individual hardships along the way. We started the rehearsals in September and from the start the whole cast worked really well together, helping each other and all committed to the play. The team atmosphere we created together made the process even more enjoyable! The performance itself was an amazing experience for the whole cast and also a new one, as we acted to a camera. It presented us with new challenges and encouraged us to explore slightly alternative ways of performing. Thank you to Mrs Jewitt and all who helped in the Drama Department, for providing us with such an incredible opportunity!
