Daisy Pulls It Off is a hilarious story of a new girl joining a private school in the 1920s, a parody of books like Enid Blyton’s Mallory Towers and St Clare’s. Thankfully, it bears no resemblance to my first term at St Helen’s! I am pleased to report I have experienced no sabotage of homework, not been framed for bad behaviour and have not had to rescue my friends from a cliff top.
Being in the play has been a great ice-breaker. The rehearsals have helped me to make lots of friends across Middle School. I feel really lucky that it was double-cast, as it doubled my chances of getting a part and doubled the opportunity to make new friends, even though it meant a lot more work for Ms Pullen-Campbell.
And please don’t think I am anything like my character in the play, sour spiteful Sybil, I promise I’m not!
