On a beautiful sunny evening, the six music scholars in Year 7 and 8 produced a wonderful evening concert. Performing around the set for the forthcoming production of Hetty Feather, the girls each performed solos on two instruments and joined together in two ensemble items. The standard of performance was very high and the repertoire was extremely well-chosen and really showcased the talents of these young musicians. There was literally a little of everything, from Purcell, through the Classical and Romantic periods to twentieth century jazz, and there were performances on piano, marimba, violin, cello, voice, oboe and trumpet. The scholars all came together in the ensemble items, both from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and the evening ended with a jaunty rendition of ‘I got plenty o’ nothing’.
