On Tuesday 1 May, the Musical Theatre Club hosted their annual concert – An Evening of Musical Theatre. This year took on the theme of Leading Ladies, focusing on musicals which celebrate women, exploring family, friendship, and fighting for what you believe in. The evening started with the forefathers of Musical Theatre, Gilbert and Sullivan, and spanned across the decades, taking on shows such as Mary Poppins, Matilda, Sister Act and Little Women, all the way to Hamilton (a firm favourite of the students!).
All involved performed with an infectious energy, keeping the audience engaged through each and every number. Highlights included a feisty rendition of Revolting Children (Matilda), a colourful performance of the much-loved classic Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Mary Poppins), and the heart-wrenching Some Things Are Meant To Be and Days of Plenty (Little Women) which had audience members wiping away the tears.
Well done to all involved for a fantastic evening!
