This term we were able to enact the ceremony of the prefect team handover in a semi-normal way, with the incoming and outgoing teams gathered in YPH, and some wonderful words from the outgoing Head Girl.
A word from new Head Girl, Olivia (L6G):
'The past year has been an unexpected journey as we adapted our lives to new circumstances, this being reflected in the re-imagined prefect handover. The School did an incredible job to organise a covid-friendly assembly with Upper Sixth attending sitting socially distanced in YPH, along with the new prefects, and the rest of the School watching on a livestream from form rooms.
The previous Head Girl, India (U6H), gave a reflective speech about the challenges the 2020 prefect team had, but also how well they overcame them in helping the rest of the School enjoy traditions in a revised way. Becoming Head Girl in such an unprecedented year has definitely been something I never expected. Although it hasn’t been the start we imagined, the future prospect of a somewhat normal year is something everyone is optimistic about. As a team we hope to leave our own legacy on the School through introducing new traditions as well as encompassing much loved old ones. It would be naïve of me to say I’m not nervous of what the next year has got in store, but I have full faith that the prefect team and the school will do an incredible job regardless.'
