Despite the challenges of Remote St Helen’s in Lent term, School Council continued to work on a variety of issues. Our discussions ranged from raising awareness about the mental health support systems that the School provides to the price of cookies! Other key topics included how to celebrate cultural diversity at St Helen’s and as a result a new Cultural Diversity Working Group has been established to maintain an open discussion on race and diversity. In light of the conversations about women’s safety following the Sarah Everard case, School Council meetings provided a useful forum to voice our own concerns and make suggestions on how St Helen’s can contribute to creating a safer future for women. However, it must be said, that none of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm of reps from every year group and the dedication of Mrs Bedford and Dr Holyoak in facilitating these meetings.
