A Sports Day like no other was held on 6 July. With some last-minute logistical challenges, the students were able to attend the event, held at Tilsley park. Despite the strong wind, the weather held out for a superb display of sporting prowess with several school records being broken. Particular mention to Charlotte (9M) who broke two records and is off to the ESAA School Championships in long jump in July, and combined events in September. Marina (L6F) also broke her own record in the long jump. This year, medals were introduced for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, and extra classic events such as the egg and spoon and the bean bag relay were introduced for everyone to participate in. House spirit was running high with teacher costumes and the House prefects competing in their costumes in multiple races including the 800m! Well done to all the students for your hard work and enthusiasm.
Special thanks to Miss Hawtin for organising the event this year and all the staff involved in timekeeping and scoring in all the competitions.
Year 7 virtual Sports Day
The Year 7s didn’t miss out on competing in their very own virtual sports day on 7 July via Teams during their PE lesson. Five events were completed at home using a variety of equipment such as toilet rolls, clothing and stopwatches to record their scores.
Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in September and House points were added to the grand total for the year.
Congratulations to the following students:
