We are very proud to have been featured once again in the Tatler Schools Guide, praised for the atmosphere of 'cool' learning, kindness and fun which sets St Helen's apart so much.
"Girls at this academically selective school secure fantastic results, with 91 per cent of A-levels graded A*– B and 99.3 per cent of GCSEs graded 9–6 in 2019. But, according to one pupil: ‘This school isn’t successful because all the girls work non-stop and don’t do anything but maths in their spare time, it is successful because boundaries are removed, we exceed expectations, we go above and beyond, and we never set limits on what we can achieve.’ It’s full STEM ahead at HelKats, where learning is ‘undeniably cool’, an A-level in computer science has just been rolled out, and a third of leavers go on to study STEM subjects at university. But girls are multifaceted and just as successful on the netball court (where the U14, U16 and U19 teams were crowned Oxfordshire county champions for the second year in a row) and on the stage, where a joint production of My Fair Lady with boys from Abingdon School was both superb and sensitive to the issues of gender equality and class that it touched upon. Pupils come from six counties across the Thames Valley, and plenty of them take advantage of the joint bus service with Abingdon. Excitingly, the school has received planning permission for a new Sixth Form building that will mirror the feel of a university, and there are plans to launch a literary festival for local children. Kindness and compassion underpin everything here, and the school strives to be ‘a space in which both introverts and extroverts can thrive’."
