Year 10 have started off their Mandarin lessons with language learning and an introduction to tai chi fans. In their double lesson they enjoyed using the colourful fans and even learned a tai chi fan dance. Students in Years 10 and 11 learned about the Chinese mid-autumn Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival. The festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar. The festival celebrates family reunions and mooncakes are eaten. Students tried mooncakes in their Mandarin lessons - coffee, matcha and chocolate flavours - and used vocabulary about the festival.
"We had a wonderful Mandarin lesson today. It was really fun and interesting. It was a great way to end the first week back of Mandarin."
