This week saw a double win for a Year 8 student as we held our first ever Great Biology Bake Off, aimed at celebrating a love of biology and baking! Girls were challenged to create a sweet or savoury baked item representing how the body works. We were delighted with the number of entries we received from Years 6 - U6 and in awe of the creativity and talent on display. Our school winners were Georgina Winsey, for her scarily realistic brain cake, Frankie and Issy Cunningham for their creative cake showing Twin Development and Lucy Felton for her beautiful Biology Brains cake, celebrating all we have learnt about physiology. We hope that this will now become an annual event in the biology department and, given the school’s love of all things cake-related, we are sure it will be an ongoing success.
All entries were put forward for the Bio-Bodies Bake-Off 2017 competition, run as part of Biology Week by the Physiological Society. Georgina Winsey, 8J was shortlisted for the public choice award and, after a public vote, was once more crowned the winner! Congratulations to her and to all who entered.
