Register for 2021 entry
Candidates should be registered at least one year prior to their entry date, although late applications may be acceptable. A registration form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office with the appropriate fee. The closing date for registration for 2021 entry is November 2020, however earlier registration is recommended.
Once your daughter is registered you will automatically receive details about the assessments and the following information will be emailed to you at the appropriate time:
- The date and information relating to the test
- Assessment Application form
- Reference form
- Details of subjects to be tested
- Fees form
Subsequently all registered candidates will be invited to a Taster Day taking place in November in the year preceding entry.
All candidates will take a teacher-led assessment in mathematics and English. The assessment for 2021 entry will be in January 2021. Places are allocated based on performance in the assessment, current Head Teacher’s report and a short interview.
All candidates will be interviewed in the week following the entrance assessment, for 2021 entry.
Offers and accepting a place
Parents will be notified of the outcome of the assessment within ten days of the Assessment Day. Parents are asked to accept the place as early as possible as there are important implications for girls on our waiting list.
Welcome to St Helen’s
After accepting a place girls are invited to the School on two occasions: one in June when they will have an afternoon of activities and a chance to meet their form and their form tutor, and one in September, the day before the beginning of term.
Moving up to the senior school
Girls accepted into the Junior Department will be expected to enter the mainstream St Helen’s Year 7 at the appropriate time. They will take the St Helen’s examination at 11+, not for the purpose of selection, but for staff records and possible scholarships.
