Twas the night before Helkatmas, when all thro’ the School, there were endless activities – even a Christmas Revue!
Let the festivities commence! Kicking off with the return of our Parents’ Association Christmas Gift Fair, St Helen’s has been overflowing with Christmas spirit since the end of November – and what a few weeks it has been.
Advent has been marked by sharing the stunning artwork produced by our students for our Christmas card competition on social media, and a variety of activities have been enjoyed in and out of lessons including wreath making in the Junior Department, a screening of Nativity! with hot chocolate in Year 11, and a school-wide Christmas Jumper Day.
It’s also been a very musical time around the School featuring our Christmas Tea Concert; our annual Christmas Revue in Old School Hall; Brass Band Christmas assembly; carols around the world; and not forgetting our Junior Christmas production where parents and staff enjoyed the Bethlehem Bake Off. Don’t miss our Service of Nine Lessons and Carols in Chapel this Thursday!

Christmas Revue
It was that time of year again where the talents of students and staff were showcased in Old School Hall to the delight of everyone gathered there. The Christmas Revue is the perfect marker for entering the Christmas season with a variety of jovial songs and festive outfits. Harriet and Coco stunned us with a mash-up of four years’ worth of Christmas Revue dance routines and the Juniors performed a fantastic rendition of ‘Jingle Bells’. As an Upper Sixth, I will miss the Christmas Revue next year, but it will always be a happy memory from my Christmases at St Helen’s.

House tree decorating competition
This year’s House Christmas trees were a festive display of recycled decorations; from paper chains to intricate handmade baubles. Paterson reigned victorious this year with their tree covered head to toe in pink including panthers and a snow globe made out of plastic bottles. Despite coming in fourth place, Hayward was commended for the best tree topper of a flying sliver hawk. Second place was the green Duffield tree including some less traditional decorations. And, finally, the Benedict tree was a bright display of the blue and orange House colours with an eye-catching bear tree topper.
