These awards recognise and celebrate the extraordinary and enriching experiences that independent schools provide across the country and our win reflects the dedication and achievements of everyone in our community, always centred on the needs, ambitions and voices of girls and young women.
St Helen and St Katharine has been ranked top school in Abingdon in The Times Parent Power 2026 schools’ guide for the fifth year running. We have also secured a place among the top five girls’ schools in the Southeast for the fifth consecutive year and rank 54th among independent schools across the UK.
We are delighted to be ranked 20th for sport in School Sport Magazine’s Top 200 sporting schools of 2025. St Helen’s also ranks as the top school for sport in Oxfordshire – and in Abingdon – and the top 6 girls’ school for sport in the country.
An Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection under Framework 23 took place in March 2025. We are delighted that St Helen and St Katharine was found to be fully compliant with all Independent School Standards and particularly proud that our co-curricular provision was identified as a ‘Significant Strength’ of the School. We are also very pleased that the report describes our curriculum as “suitably academic and demanding, reflecting the needs and abilities of pupils”, and that the inspectors found that “many activities [are designed] to support pupils’ emotional and mental well-being as a balance to the focus of the academic curriculum”.

Listed in The Cricketer Magazine Schools Guide top 20girls’ schools for cricket in the UK for the fourth year in a row. Cricket is offered at St Helen’s from Year 5 all the way through to Sixth Form, and cricketers have the opportunity to play recreationally and competitively.
Rated ‘very good’ value for money by The Telegraph Money league table 2024, 2025 and. We received the ‘Very good’ rating in the Year 8, Year 11 and Year 13 (Upper Sixth) categories, reflecting the hard work and brilliance of our students and staff.
