The younger musicians in the school put on a wonderful summer concert this term, with many fabulous performances across multiple year groups.

The evening opened with Sinfonietta, who played the iconic James Bond theme tune that got everyone in the audience smiling. The Year 9 group followed with a beautiful performance of  PEFLEK’ featuring some Rodgers and Hammerstein harmonies.

Wind orchestra kept the momentum going with a lively set, a particular favourite was ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ which had many feet tapping along. A Year 6 string trio, who had been mentored by two Lower Sixth students throughout the year, gave us an impressive and confident performance, offering a glimpse into a strong, promising future for the strings department.

In Sinfonia’s performance of ‘Hushaby Mountain from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, it was lovely to see staff members performing next to the students, which really showcased the friendliness and sense of community found in the Music Department.

The main school choir sounded incredible performing ‘Didn’t it Rain’, and team Pachelbel brought smiles to the faces of all in the audience with their performance. To round off the evening, it was lovely to see all of Year 7 getting involved on stage performing ‘’Dem Rats’. Overall, the evening was a fantastic celebration of musical talent and enthusiasm, and it is clear that the future of music at school is in very capable hands.

The summer concert was a triumph this year. It was a brilliant showcase of some of the amazing musical talent that we have lower down in the school.
