Students at St Helen and St Katharine once again demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial talent at the prestigious Tycoon Enterprise Competition.
The initiative is run by the Peter Jones Foundation and offers pupils valuable insight into the world of business as they created, launched and managed their own companies during Lent Term last academic year. Two Year 10 teams, Bejewelled and iPadazzle, entered the competition, with each student taking on a defined leadership position within their company. Bejewelled produced and sold candles containing hidden jewellery, while iPadazzle created personalised stickers and accessories for iPads. Both teams worked hard to build visibility across the school community, designing eye-catching promotional materials and presenting their ventures during assemblies. Their dedication paid off: iPadazzle finished 4th on the national Tycoon leaderboard with an impressive 166% return on investment and Bejewelled followed closely in 6th place with a 150% return. Profits from both companies were donated to charities including Sobell House Hospice, Be Free Young Carers and Whizz Kids.
iPadazzle’s outstanding performance led to their invitation to the National Finals at Savoy Place, London, where the team showcased their product range, business strategy and financial achievements. They presented a professional market stand and confidently explained their entrepreneurial journey to industry guests and judges. Their pitch to veteran Dragon Peter Jones was a particular highlight, with the team articulating how creativity, teamwork and strong branding contributed to their success.
