This term provided two showcase opportunities for our student-led Dance Company.
Two dances were performed at the regional ‘Great Big Dance Off’ in Swindon: ‘Fever’ adapted from last year’s Dance Show, followed by student-choreographed ‘Waves ‘ by Amelia T (Lower Sixth).
‘Secrets’ choreographed by Chloe and Emily (Year 10) was performed at the Oxford Dance Festival, New Theatre.
Hear from our Middle School Dance Captains, Chloe and Emily (Year 10) below:
“Emily and I have really enjoyed being Dance Captains and running Dance Company. We both choreographed a routine “Secret Love Song” and really enjoyed working with the troupe to create something really special. Thank you to Miss Barras with the costume support and thank you to our dancers for their commitment – it was all made worthwhile with the fantastic audience response to our dance.”
The dance “waves” was performed by students in years 8-10 in the Great British Dance-off competition earlier this term. It was an amazing experience to watch my vision come to life by these incredible and hardworking dancers who pulled it off in only 6 rehearsals. We can’t wait to see it be performed again in the dance show next term.
