SHSK’s Geography and Library departments are enjoying our new free-standing globe, kindly purchased with funds from SHSK Parents’ Association.
The globe lights up and rotates 360 degrees to encourage students to further explore places they have studied in their lessons and through reading books in the library.
The Read Aloud club have recently made use of it by using it to locate places featured in the novel Dracula. The students said they really like the design of the globe, the level of detail in the labels.
Having studied Africa in Geography lessons, the Year 7 students have also been keen to see how land had been divided across the continent during colonial rule.
We are very grateful to the PA for making this purchase a reality and we hope it inspires students for many years to come.
