At the beginning of the month Y9 students completed their Bronze DofE qualifying weekend.
Freya writes about her experience of the weekend: This past weekend I completed the bronze DofE expedition in the Chiltern hills. Our group started the day at 10.30am from Princes Risborough.
Though we took a couple wrong turns at the start we were quick to correct ourselves, showing that we were persistent, but we always seemed to get lost in the woods as there was so many crossroads and it was so disorienting.
The first day took seven and a half hours and we got there (the campsite) around 5.30pm and started putting up the tents and then cooked dinner which was pesto pasta and we pre-cooked our lunch (for tomorrow), getting to bed on time.
The next morning, we were up and out pretty quickly before two other groups. The seconded day we stopped around four times and didn’t go the wrong way at all – showing how much we learnt from our mistakes. It took us six and a half hours that day.
Overall, I was very happy with what we learnt and how we coped with the long walking and the tiredness.
