Philosothon competition

Kelly Meuleman, Head of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics

On Tuesday 19 May, 15 students from Year 9, Year 10 and Lower Sixth competed in the Radley/SHSK Philosothon.

Discussing topics ranging from end-of-life decisions, creating a just society on Mars to criminal responsibility of children, they engaged with and built on each other’s ideas to formulate convincing arguments. We have learnt through the years that philosophy requires pizza and we are very grateful to Mr Knowles and the Radley students for such a warm welcome and friendly competition. The St Helen’s team won by just five points. A special shout-out goes to Oscar and Martha who won ‘best in school’. We can’t wait till next year’s competition.
