The ESAA Cross Country Cup National Final held at Princethorpe College, was a huge event with over 110 schools competing.
The Michaelmas term had a brilliant start for cross country with Years 7 and 8 winning partnership relay events at Church Farm in September.
After that, we went on to win the Oxfordshire county round at Frilford. All six of our runners finished in the top 11! Next, we went to the regionals at Cokethorpe School. Against 18 schools from six local counties, we came out as winners. We had made it to nationals!
At the ESAA Cross Country Cup National Final, Junior girls raced first. We were all very nervous standing in a flurry of school colours before the race. We filed into the starting pens and waited for the gun, with mud, hills, some rain and 2.6k ahead of us! It was hard, but the race seemed to pass very quickly and soon Miss Hawtin and Miss Harris were waiting at the finish line for us. We thought we had all run well and were very happy with our day out.
Suddenly, as we were packing up, one of the parents shouted, “You have come third! You have won a medal!” It was a long wait for the ceremony but was worth it for an ESAA medal for each of us. Very well done to our team Jemima, Eloise, Grace, Roisin, Bea M and Bea G!
