We are delighted that our new Sixth Form Centre, the Benedict Building, has been awarded a Certificate, ‘Recognising the Contribution to Oxford’, by the Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT).
At the OPT Awards 2023 event in early November, the building was characterised as “fun, clever and punching above its weight” and “artful and surprising”.
The Benedict Building opened in January 2023 and is a physical articulation of our vision for St Helen’s Sixth Form: to create an environment for students that sparks their intellectual spirit and imagination. We are grateful to our outstanding project partners from TSH Architects, Benfield & Loxley (Builders) Ltd and Ridge and Partners who translated our vision into a wonderful space and design.
Since its opening, the Benedict Building has played host to a plethora of events and activities – from Hungarian dance competitions and karaoke parties to working lunches with Abingdon School, an alumnae networking event and MedSoc practice interviews. In October, the building played host to our inaugural ‘Business of Sport’ conference for girls and young women interested in the myriad of opportunities the world of sport has to offer.
