Year 10 and the Sixth Form visited the Sheldonian Theatre for a performance by Natalie Haynes
During her show ‘No Friend to this House’, Natalie, star of Radio 4’s ‘Stand up for the Classics’ show, explored the story of Jason, Medea and the Golden Fleece through her blend of stand-up comedy and classical commentary. The students really enjoyed the experience and found the approach accessible without feeling ‘dumbed down’. “It was funny!”, reported one student. “The way she spoke made it really understandable for a modern audience”. Another said that “her mind is such a cavern of information. She jumps from one source to another and back again”. The students were particularly pleased that their togas got a mention to the whole audience!
