A huge congratulations to Emma (Year 5), regional winner for the South East in the Step into the NHS competition.

All of Year 5 submitted entries to the competition. About her win, Emma said, “I was quite surprised at first, because I didn’t feel like mine was the best. But then I decided that, if mine got chosen, I should just start getting on with it.”

She presented her project on the role of an Orthoptist in the NHS to judges in the national final.

Emma told us when choosing what to research, she was inspired by the “really reassuring” orthoptist she had when she was younger. She was most interested in the tools that orthoptists work with “such as an ophthalmoscope or a phoropter”.
