This year’s IWD theme was ‘Give to Gain’, which really resonates across our whole school community.
We spent a fantastic week celebrating – from students participating in lively debates and writing letters to their younger selves to friendship bracelets, cards of appreciation and a karaoke finale, students across the School got involved in activities full of energy, creativity and reflection.
We were also delighted to welcome SHSK alumna Katy Thompson MBE to St Helen’s to give a talk during our special IWD-themed assembly. Katy is an airline pilot and shared her journey from the School to the skies. The talk was a wonderful opportunity for students to hear first-hand from an inspirational HelKat who has built a career in an industry where women remain underrepresented. They were also keen to ask her plenty of questions at the end so we may have some more pilots in the making! You can read more alumna stories here.
