On 11th November the school community gathered to mark Armistice Day in a thought-provoking whole school service.
The service was led by the School Chaplain Revd Dr Karen Hyde and students and staff came together to remember those who have fought and those who are still fighting in conflicts around the world.
We were also joined by members of the Armed Forces community, both serving and veteran, including four students who are Rifles Cadets and Air Commodore McFadyn, who gave a moving account of her experiences and motivation behind joining the Royal Air Force. We listened to our Chapel Choir and heard readings, including a passage from the Bible from Steve McAllister, the School’s Health & Safety and Compliance Manager. Mr McAllister was deployed for five operational tours with the British Army and has previously shared his own account of his time in the Armed Forces. You can read his words here.
The service concluded with the laying of wreaths and beautiful singing from our Chapel Choir.

On Remembrance Day, we stop and see,Betty (9M)
The ones who gave their lives to be free.
They fought with courage, through the night,
For peace and hope, and freedom's light.
We wear the poppy, red and bright,
To honour them, to do what's right.

In quiet moments, in silent praise.
