SHSK hosts OX14 MMI Evening

Tate (U6) and Daniel Darcy

The MMI evening was an incredible opportunity for OX14 medics to come together and develop and refine their interview skills.

In all, 29 students from Radley, Abingdon, Larkmead and King Alfred schools attended and the interview was supported by staff from SHSK, Abingdon School, SHSK Alumnae and volunteers.

The multiple mini interviews consisted of eight mock interview stations, each lasting four minutes and were designed to test different qualities required of a future medic. These included communication skills, teamwork, ethical reasoning, and even mathematical problem-solving.

Last year’s Medsoc received 10/10 success in securing interviews and 10/10 received offers following successful interviews with their universities. This year, we already have 12 students who have received invitations to interview.

I feel much more prepared for my real interview and far less nervous, as I now have a clear idea of what to expect.

Josephine

Practising with professionals we had never met before made the experience feel authentic, giving us a mock interview that closely reflected how the real thing could be.
