Year 8 students took part in a speech contest in which presented a woman’s story they felt inspired by.
It was amazing watching the students speak about women they find influential. All of their speeches were really powerful and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to listen to them speaking their voices.
It was really hard to pick just one winner and a runner-up, as all of the speeches were brilliant. Aalya’s talk on Maya Angelou, however, was particularly fascinating. As she spoke about the author’s resilience in the face of extreme adversity, Aalya captured what it means to be an influential woman.
