Reflecting on a term of volunteering at the Abingdon Court Care Home, Amelie and Rhiana (Lower Sixth) tell us about their favourite moments and what they learned:
‘Volunteering weekly at Abingdon Court Care Home gave us the opportunity to interact with not only the residents there, but also their families and the staff. This allowed us to speak and work with a variety of people, which helped to develop skills such as communication and listening skills, which we will need throughout life.
We helped the care home staff run activities such as poetry club and arts and crafts, and we enjoyed chatting to the residents as they shared their stories with us. Going to the care home was always something we looked forward to during the week, and we made a lot of good memories too!’
