This June, Lower Sixth geography students embarked on a two-day field trip to Studland Bay and Swanage. On the first day in Studland Bay, we examined the variation of vegetation on sand dunes with respect to the distance from the sea. In the evening, using this data we tried to prove our theories with statistical tests such as Spearman’s rank – followed by well-deserved fish and chips.
On the second day, in Swanage, we explored different management strategies employed in the area, asking locals about their views and surveying the area, with the highlight definitely being ice cream on the beach after our work.
