Young detectives and fans of murder mysteries came together on Thursday 12 October for the book launch of Robin Stevens’ latest YA fiction novel, The Body in the Blitz.
Hosted by St Helen’s and organised by Abingdon-based independent bookshop, Mostly Books, the event gave readers the opportunity to hear from the California-born, Oxford-raised author about her newest adventure and her writing process, ask questions and have their books signed.
Set in 1941, The Body in the Blitz follows May, Eric and Nuala – the newest recruits of the Ministry of Unladylike Activities – who have travelled to war-time London for spy training. However, whilst exploring a bombed house at the end of the street, the three discover something that should not be there.
Enthusiastic reader and fan of the Murder Most Unladylike book series, Georgia (Year 6), said: “It was so exciting to see Robin Stevens in person. I really enjoyed the way she got the audience involved in creating a murder mystery in real-time by asking for ideas and everyone voting on what would happen next.”
We are extremely proud of our long-standing partnership with Mostly Books having worked on several events and workshops together in the past. After the event, Sarah Dennis, owner of Mostly Books, commented: “We’re such huge fans of Robin, her books are fantastic and our customers love them. We’re so excited to be hosting the launch day event for The Body in the Blitz with St Helen and St Katharine.”
