Year 10 students Lottie, Mahi, Dorothy, Natasha, Tally and Sophie were awarded a certificate for winning the Restless Earth Award – a nationwide competition run by the British Cartographic Society.
The competition challenged Years 9 and 10 students from across the country to take on the role of mapping organisations such as Shelter Box and the UN to produce resources that would support the actions of humanitarian aid, search and rescue, and military and medical aid workers. This
year, the competition focussed on the Japanese Tōhoku earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster of 2011.
Ms Snowdon (Acting Head of Geography) said: ‘We are incredibly proud of our students who demonstrated excellent teamwork and fantastic cartographic skills to complete a challenging workshop on hazard mapping.’
