AQA Further Maths level 2

Years 10-11

This is an opportunity for students who wish to undertake a Further Maths qualification in addition to GCSE. Involves a high expectation of independent study and is an opportunity to get a feeling for study habits and mathematics to further prepare for A level.

Astronomy Club

Years 9–Upper Sixth

Astronomy Club is out of this world! Learn about black holes, the Big Bang, alien life and get stargazing advice. Search for exoplanets, build a comet and model gravitational waves.

Athletics

Years 5-Upper Sixth

Athletics clubs run throughout Trinity term and students compete in a range of friendly fixtures in addition to entering regional and national competitions.

Attenborough Club

Years 9–11

Attenborough Club is for students to explore and discuss the many wonderful Attenborough documentary series.

Badminton

Year 5 - Upper Sixth

Badminton clubs run at lunchtimes for junior and senior squads. Teams compete in local fixtures, county competitions and national cups.

Ballet (grade 2-pointe)

Years 5-9 by grade

This activity is provided by external teachers and is therefore subject to a sufficient take-up rate by students. This activity carries an additional cost.

Basketball

Years 7 – Upper Sixth

Basketball club is recreational and competitive, with friendly fixtures against local opposition.

Big Band

Any jazz players, Grade 5 level and above

Big Band performs a range of traditional and contemporary Jazz at Christmas, the Jazz evening and the summer Jazz afternoon.

Books Aloud

Years 5–Upper sixth

Bring along something you would like to share or just come to listen to other students’ favourite poems, passages, playscripts and other printed matter.

Brass Band

All brass players

Brass Band plays a wide and varied repertoire and performs at a number of school events and concerts.

Bridge Club

All years

Bridge is much more than a card game. The club is for beginners and people who have played before.

British Physics Olympiad: Academic Challenges

Year 10–Upper Sixth

A variety of opportunities to participate in national competitions, including both physics and astronomy, using physics taught in school as well as general scientific knowledge.

British Physics Olympiad: Experimental Competition

Year 10–Upper Sixth

Hands-on experience of how experimental research is carried out – planning and undertaking open-ended experiments and independent research, and communicating findings in the style of an academic paper, all focused on an unusual and novel application of physics.

BSL CLub

Years 5–Upper sixth

Sign language club is a brilliant way to learn a new form of communication and improve cognitive skills. It provides a fun and engaging environment to learn a valuable skill that promotes inclusion and understanding.

Camerata String players

Grade 7 level and above (by invitation)

Camerata gives our most advanced string players the chance to tackle a challenging string repertoire, performing regularly in school concerts, festivals and other events.

Years 9–Upper Sixth

Open to anyone who enjoys singing in Year 10 upwards, performing a variety of musical styles at several different events.

Carnegie Shadowing

Years 7–8

Join us as we read our way through books nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in children’s and young people’s literature.

Cello and Bass Squad

An opportunity for cellists and bassists to work together in this specialist lower strings ensemble.

Ceramics club

Year 7-8

Hands-on clay fun for younger students, guided by our talented Sixth Formers. Learn basic ceramic techniques and create your own unique masterpieces!

Chamber Music

An extensive Chamber Music programme runs throughout the week, mostly before school, to offer opportunity for music-making and student coaching in small groups.

Chapel Choir

Years 10–Upper Sixth (by audition)

Chapel Choir leads the School in morning services, termly Eucharists and special services as well as performing in school concerts and other events.

Chess and Board Games Club

Years 5–Upper Sixth

An opportunity to develop thinking skills and showcase mental tactics and strategy – and have a lot of fun in the process!

Clarinet Ensemble

Clarinettists, Grade 5 level and above

Our advanced clarinet ensemble performs a wide range of music at several events and concerts throughout the year.

Classical Reading Group

Years 9–Upper Sixth

There are certain classical characters who are still notorious, such as Oedipus, Medea and Jason. In this club, we read together in English, some of the most powerful and moving plays from the ancient world and discuss their impact and longevity.

Concert Band

Grade 5 level and above (by audition)

For our most advanced wind and percussion players, performing regularly in school concerts.

Cooking for University

Sixth Form

This club prepares students for independent life at university and beyond. Learn how to cook a range of healthy and delicious dishes in this friendly club.

Craft Club

Years 7 - Upper Sixth

A practical workshop where students will manufacture commercially viable outcomes using real woods, producing products ranging from chopping boards and iPad stands in Lower School to small items of furniture in Sixth Form.

Creative Writing Club

Years 7–8

Our creative writing club meets every Thursday to share writing and try out new techniques, aiming to enter competitions, produce publications and have fun being creative.

CREST Awards

Years 8-Upper sixth

Budding scientists in Y8 and above are empowered to run their own investigations, potentially leading to a CREST Award.

Cricket

Years 5 – Upper Sixth

Cricketers have the opportunity to play recreationally and competitively. Teams compete in friendly fixtures and are entered into county, regional and national competitions – indoor and outdoor.
