Weekly sports roundup

Every week, during our Whole School assembly, Sports Captain Kitty (U6) reads out the most recent highlights in sport throughout the school. Here is the sports roundup from this week (3 February 2025):  

The Netball team of the week is:

Huge well done to all students taking part in the U14, U16 and U19 regional netball tournament. U14 placed 3rd overall, U16 placed 5th in their group, U19 placed 3rd in their group, just missing out on a semifinal place. Hard luck to the U13A losing in the SNS shield QF. POMs Poppy and Rosie. 

‘Well done’ to the following who were successful at regional U15 SW lacrosse squad. Florence (Y10), Emily (Y10), Eloise (Y10), Chloe (Y10), Annabel (Y9), Isabella (Y10), Alice (Y10) 

Lacrosse results from the weekend: 1sts 2 wins, 2 draw and 2 losses, players of the day: Kitty (U6), Emilia (L6) and Zoe (L6); 2nds 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses, player of the day: Liv (U6), Eve (Y11) and Jess (U16); 3rds POMs Shaniqua (Y11), Arabella (Y11), Maddie (Y11), Tawana (Y11); U15A draw 8-8, POMs Emily (Y10), Gigi (Y10); U15B won 1 and lost 1, POMs Abigail (Y10) and Alice (Y10), Dora (Y10) and Lanah (Y10); U14A POMs Annabel (Y9) and Serah (Y9); U14B POMs Serah (Y9) and Marla (Y9); U13A POMs Margot (Y8) and Flora (Y8); U13B won 1 and lost 1, POMs Kitty (Y8) and Persie (Y8), Kirsty (Y8); U12A lost 1 and won 1, POMs Fallon (Y7) and Imi (Y7); U12B POMs Chloe (Y7), Jemima (Y7) and Eva (Y7); U12C 4-0 win. A special mention to the juniors who played their very first lacrosse matches this weekend, POM Eloise (Y7). 

‘Well done’ to all the junior swimmers in their swimming galas last week and the cross-country runners who participated in the manor cross country. 

‘Well done’ to the following who took part in the individual Oxfordshire cross country this week 

U12 Bea (Y7) 2nd, Bea (Y7) 6th, Grace (Y7) 13th. U14 Belle (Y9) 3rd, Annabel (Y9) 5th, Rosie (Y8) 11th, Freya (Y9) 22nd and Martha (Y8) 23rd. U16 Riona (Y10) 3rd, Cici (Y10) 7th. ‘Well done’ to all those who placed in the top 6 who will now represent Oxfordshire at the national cross country championships. 

Unlucky for the 1st football team who got knocked out 2-1 of the last 16 of the ESFA cup and lost on penalties in the ISFA cup after extra time. It was the furthest they have been in both these competitions. 

‘Well done’ to all badminton players competing in the county badminton yesterday at U14 and U16 age groups. The U14 team 1 came third and team 2 came in 4th place by 1 point. 

The U16 teams 1 and 2 came 4th also by 1 point.
