Excitement filled the air at St Helen’s as students and staff embraced SHSK Beyond Week, a dynamic five-day programme of learning and discovery.
Running from 19-23 May, the week offered students from across the school the chance to explore new subjects, challenge themselves in unfamiliar environments, and enjoy creative and collaborative activities both on and off site.
Each year group followed a tailored schedule of experiences designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence and broaden horizons.
The week kicked off with a lively mix of activities: Juniors began rehearsals for their annual drama production, while Year 7 ventured to Oxford for a literary-themed day. Year 8 took part in alternative sports at Church Farm and Year 10 focused on personal safety with a self-defence workshop. Meanwhile, Lower Sixth students explored future pathways with a dedicated university preparation day.
As the week progressed, the variety only grew. From prop-making and theatre make-up to thrilling adventures at Lulworth Cove and Thorpe Park, students immersed themselves in hands-on experiences. Year 9 delved into creativity with Geography and Art workshops, while Year 10 tested their physical and mental strength with climbing challenges and IT/Maths problem-solving.
Juniors enjoyed a residential experience full of fun and friendship, while other year groups tackled bushcraft, explored the Cotswold Water Park, and learned valuable life skills such as first aid and presentation techniques. Highlights also included Business Day, the One Day Film School and even pan drumming sessions.
Throughout the week, the school grounds buzzed with energy and engagement, culminating in a joyful final day that saw everything from Tudor-themed roleplay to an inspiring author talk. The school’s catering team helped fuel the action-packed days.
Beyond Week once again proved to be a highlight of the school calendar, celebrating the spirit of adventure, creativity and community that lies at the heart of SHSK.
