Students from local schools marked end of Carnegie Shadowing and celebrated the books on this year’s shortlist.
Students from Europa, Fitzharrys, John Mason, Our Lady’s Abingdon and Larkmead schools worked together in groups to create presentations about the shortlisted books before voting for their favourite. They also participated in a book workshop.
Throughout the year, students read and review eight books from a shortlist. They take part in a Carnegie tea and quiz where they meet to discuss their progress. They are sorted into groups based on their favourites and prepare a presentation on the book for judges.

Cora (Y7) shared, “I really enjoyed the day, as it let us meet new people and we got to explore the books. We also got to win prizes for our performances, which was fun!”
Ananyaa (Y8) said, “I really enjoyed today because we got to meet other people and we had to do presentations based on the book we were chosen to focus on. It was really fun to watch other people’s presentations too as it also gave me an idea about the other books I haven’t read yet. I would definitely do this again!”
