On Tuesday 21 November we had the fantastic opportunity to visit the House of Lords in Westminster, London.
Over a delicious lunch, we were able to listen to multiple different civil engineers inform us about their careers and engineering experiences. This ranged from speaker Professor David Balmforth – an independent consultant specialising in flood risk management and urban pollution control – to speaker Dr Alalea Kia, a member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London.
Overall, this inspiring excursion encouraged us to consider a wider range of careers concerning different engineering disciplines, all whilst attending the seat of governance.
