Three Lower Sixth Physics and Computer Science students spent the day in London attending the All-Party Parliamentary Engineering Group discussion at the House of Lords.
The topic was 3D Printing: Engineering for the Future, and the session featured expert speakers including Professor Tim Minshall, Professor of Innovation and Head of the Institute for Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge, and Dr Doug Brion, Founder and CEO of Matta.
The Q&A session raised several thought-provoking discussions about the future of 3D printing, its applications across various industries, and the challenges it may pose. The event took place over lunch, providing us with the opportunity not only to engage in conversation with fellow attendees—including professionals in the industry, peers and Members of Parliament—but also to enjoy the hospitality and stunning surroundings of the House of Lords. Overall, the day provided fascinating insights into the 3D printing industry and showcased the wide range of exciting opportunities it could offer us in the future.
