St Helen’s hosted an uplifting Autumn Concert toward the end of November with a programme of British music performed by an array of orchestras, bands and choirs – Eleanor (11M) tells us more:
Our annual Autumn Concert was a great success this year, with a patriotic theme comprising a plethora of British composers. This was a great opportunity for more advanced students to play and sing together, and it was a delight to hear such a wide variety of music.
During the concert, our new Year 10 group, Sixth Harmony, debuted and the First Orchestra were able to perform for the first time since lockdown, which was lovely to be a part of. The conert ended with Walton’s majestic Crown Imperial. Upper Sixth music scholar Imogen gave a beautiful performance of the Trumpeter’s Lullaby with Concert Band and other highlights included Camerata’s medley of British film music and the Brass Band raising a smile with their performance of The Floral Dance.
