Careers Leading from the Study of Geography

Students from St Helen’s and Abingdon School explored a world of possibilities at our ‘Careers Leading from the Study of Geography’ event at the end of January.

With insights from a panel of both schools’ alumni, Years 10-Upper Sixth students discovered the diverse career paths made available by pursuing geography-related careers – including sustainability, property and urban planning, business and logistics, advocacy and international relations – as well as how young geographers can apply their existing skillsets, such as critical thinking, data analysis and independent research.

After a brief opening presentation from Abingdon’s Head of Career Guidance, Michael Triff, our five panellists shared their journeys. The evening ended with a Q&A session led by our Head of Careers and Professional Guidance, Emily Cartwright.

Thank you to our panel of speakers Ed Adamson (2017 leaver); Felicity Mulford (2014 leaver); George Strainge (2017 leaver); Emily Crowe (2015 leaver); and Sean Dunnett (2017 leaver).
