On Thursday 28 November, Years 5 and 6 went on a school trip to Winchester Science Centre.
On our trip, we did a rocket workshop, where we learnt what makes rockets fly and why rockets need to be aerodynamic. We built rockets and got to design them and see how the shape and weight affected the distance the rocket flew.
After, we went into the planetarium, which was a dome-shaped theatre. It had a screen on the roof, so when you looked up it felt like you were in the stars. While we were in the planetarium, we learned about our solar system and the planets it consists of. We learned about the eight planets and their atmospheres.
We also got to explore all the different interactive activities, like a soundproof box and a funnel that would show you how long it took sound to travel through. Our favourite was one which made noise sound further away than it actually was.
We really enjoyed the Winchester Science Centre trip because it showed us lots of surprising and fun things about science.
