Lest we forget. This year’s Remembrance was marked with a thought-provoking, whole-school service in YPH. Led by the School Chaplain, Revd Dr Karen Hyde, students and staff came together to remember those who have fought and those who are still fighting in conflicts around the world.
Readings and prayers from Headmistress Mrs Dougall, Head Girl Daisy and students from all years guided the School in the Act of Remembrance. We were also honoured to be given a first-hand account of service from our Health & Safety and Compliance Manager, Steve McAllister. Mr McAllister was deployed for five operational tours with the British Army and comes from a long line of service men and women. He shared powerful words of his time in the Army, as well as memories of those he knew and those who made “the ultimate sacrifice”.
The service concluded with student representatives from the RAF Air Cadets and Army Cadets laying wreaths, and the hymn ‘Abide with me’, beautifully led by the Chapel Choir.
