LTA Youth Schools Competition

Emily Sillence, Teacher of PE and Head of Year 9

The Year 7 and 8 and Year 9 and 10 Division 1 A squads won the summer LTA Youth Schools Competition and progressed to the regional knockout rounds, held in September.

The Year 7 and 8 team faced tough competition in the first round against King Edward VI High School for Girls, but it was a great experience for them and they will look to build on this next season. The Year 9 and 10 squad confidently made it to the Regional Finals in Nottingham after comfortably beating Northampton High School and Rugby, displaying some fantastic tennis and working well as a team. They played some awesome tennis throughout the day and won a nail-biting shootout to finish 3rd in the region. Well done to Tilly VP, Phoebe (Year 11), Jasmine and Florence (Year 10).

I am very proud of the progress and direction tennis at St Helen’s is going and I am looking forward to next season!

Tennis squad training

Our early morning squad training sessions will recommence during the w/c 27 January.
