This has been our most successful season yet! This term has seen the highest number of football teams, with Year 8 and Year 10 having enough players for A and B teams – a footballing revolution! Overall we competed in 38 fixtures.
The 1st XI have had an outstanding term! They are thus far unbeaten and have progressed to both the ISFA Cup and Trophy quarter-finals, becoming the most successful football team at SHSK of all time! They are also into the final 16 of the ESFA Cup (out of 125 teams!). As a team, the 1st XI have displayed great teamwork, enthusiasm and determination. Individual shout-outs go to Amelie S (Upper Sixth), for her superb work rate, passing and game play and to Charlotte B (also Upper Sixth), for scoring 30 goals in nine matches.
Huge success has also been seen with the U15A team who are undefeated in both the ISFA Trophy and Cup competitions, progressing to the quarter-finals and final 16 respectively. They also finished in the top 64 schools out of 375 in the ESFA Cup. A shout-out goes to Emily M (Year 10), for being in Miss Hawtin’s words, an “assist queen”!
The U12A team have also had a great term – reaching rounds two and three of the ESFA and the ISFA Cups respectively. Player of the term goes to Katherine S (Year 7), for stepping up as goalkeeper and playing in the year group above, as well as always showing high energy when on the pitch!
The U13A team displayed lots of determination in the County Cup, winning on penalties in the final 16 and reaching the quarter-finals. Player of the term is Annabelle A (Year 8), for scoring lots of goals and being a high-energy role model.
Finally, the U16A team have had hard luck in the ESFA and County Cups, but many players have successfully stepped up to play for the 1st XI. In particular, Emma M (Year 11), has been consistently tenacious in running up and down the wing and providing excellent crosses.
Overall, this term has seen fantastic growth for football at SHSK! We’re excited to see how much further we can progress in the new year!
