St Helen’s ranked top girls’ school in Oxfordshire for fourth consecutive year

We have been ranked top girls’ school in Oxfordshire in The Times Parent Power 2025 schools’ guide.

We have also been ranked fifth in the Southeast for the fourth year in a row, and 48th independent school overall in the UK – the only school in Abingdon to make the top 50.

Single-sex girls’ schools again this year dominate the very highest echelons of The Times Parent Power league tables. Six of the top ten schools in the combined rankings are girls-only schools.

Headmistress Rebecca Dougall said: “This is great news to end a long and busy term. The outstanding staff and students at St Helen’s deserve such plaudits and we couldn’t be prouder of ‘Team St Helen’s’.”

The academic rankings were calculated by schools’ performances at A level and GCSE in summer 2024 where 91.7% of our students achieved grades A*–B at A level, and 85.7% achieved grades 9–7 in their GCSEs. In addition to consistently excellent academic results, we offer exceptional extracurricular and academic enrichment programmes, as well as outstanding pastoral care.

We are also ranked top school overall for sport in Oxfordshire and top 4 girls’ school for sport in the county by School Sport Magazine 2023.

Our students come from across six counties including Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire – facilitated by our extensive school bus network – and we offer means-tested bursaries from 20–100% of fees from Year 7.
