On Monday 12 May, four St Helen’s students received their Confirmation during a beautiful evening service in our Chapel.
The service was presided over by The Rt Revd Gavin Collins, Bishop of Dorchester, from the Diocese of Oxford.
In Bishop Gavin’s sermon, he pondered the parable of the Good Shepherd, and how Jesus says “I know my sheep and they know me”. He explained that this is the message Confirmation candidates responded to by choosing to be confirmed, to enter into relationship with him and continue to know him and follow him.
He said the best way to continue this relationship is through prayer, Bible study and fellowship with other Christians.
Izzy and Alice (L6) reflect on their Confirmation: “Being confirmed at school was both an exciting and beautiful experience. Bishop Gavin’s warmth and confidence allowed the service to be calm and enjoyable, and Chapel Choir’s beautiful singing complimented the baptism and confirmation perfectly. Thank you Revd Karen for making our journey to confirmation so rewarding!”
