This year in football

Charlotte (1st XI football captain)

This year our most successful season yet! Michaelmas saw the highest number of football teams, with Year 8 and Year 10 having enough players for A and B teams. Overall, we competed in 38 fixtures. The 1st XI had an outstanding beginning of this year! They progressed to both the ISFA Cup and Trophy quarterfinals, becoming the most successful football team at SHSK of all time! They are also made it into the final 16 of the ESFA Cup (out of 125 teams!). As a team, the 1st XI displayed great teamwork, enthusiasm and determination

Huge success has also been seen with the U15A team who progressed to the quarterfinals and final in both the ISFA Trophy and Cup competitions, respectively. They also finished in the top 64 schools out of 375 in the ESFA Cup. A shout-out goes to Emily M (Year 10), for being in Miss Hawtin’s words, an “assist queen”!

The U12A team reached rounds two and three of the ESFA and the ISFA Cups respectively. The U13A team displayed lots of determination in the County Cup, winning on penalties in the final 16 and reaching the quarterfinals.

Finally, the U16A team had hard luck in the ESFA and County Cups, but many players successfully stepped up to play for the 1st XI.

Overall, this school year has seen fantastic growth for football at SHSK! We’re excited to see how much further we can progress next new year!
