In February, over 50 students started preparations for their DofE Silver Award expeditions, taking place in June and September.
Revising and developing the skills that they utilised on their Bronze expeditions, Year 10 students spent time planning and making group presentations to show to their peers on topics such as risk management, meal planning, teamwork and choosing the correct equipment – all of which are necessary considerations on a self-reliant trip.
After working together to put up a variety of tents in the afternoon sunshine, the groups were able to view and select the tent models that they preferred to use for their expedition. Some opted for a cosier two-person tent whilst others chose the luxury of a tent with a large porch area.
With their routes now planned, the teams are now ready for their two-night practice expeditions in the Cotswolds in the coming weeks.
