Our trip to the Warner Bros Studios was a true adventure!
As soon as we stepped inside, we knew this was going to be a trip like no other. From the ceiling, a majestic dragon hung. Everyone ate lunch as quickly as possible so we could start the epic journey awaiting us…
We got taken up to a room that no other visitors got to see! Real costumes were on show for us, and we learnt about the behind-the-scenes of the props including the costumes and how some people judge characters by their outfits. Each table was given a bag with varied materials inside. Did we have Hagrid’s clothes? Or perhaps Voldemort’s outfit? Did you know that when a new manager took over, he changed lots of things, and they could all just say “It’s magic!”
Once we finished the workshop, we could hardly contain our excitement, as we were about to begin exploring! First, we leaned back on comfortable cinema seats and watched a mini movie telling us all about Harry Potter. They had Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in. Buzzing, we took our steps towards the great hall door. Inside it was even better than the books! They had small witches gliding gracefully around the Christmas tree. At the front stood all the teachers in their robes. Above us candles lingered swaying gently. They also lit pudding on fire for fun; it was crazy!
The next section had all the small bits (but still important). This included the taps that flowed in varied colours. How the film crew made the staircases move was by using a humongous green screen! They also only filmed one set of stairs. Crazy! Leaky Cauldron Corridor; it was soooo amazing! Did you know that it was an optical illusion? Are you interested in Quidditch? Because we got to fly on a broom! And have our photos taken – they were so cool. An amazingly creepy bit was when we saw the dark forbidden forest. There were spiders drooping down from the ceiling like black chandeliers. Feathers white, there was a huge hippogriff standing at the edge of the woods. Slowly the woods twisted into the train station leading us onto Platform nine and three quarters. Steam billowing out of the train in slow smoke, we took a group photo in front, as well as also pushing our trollies into the magical wall. It was so cool inside! You could see all the carriages there were in the movie, even one that said, “Ron loves lavender.” Bubbles floating around us, we had a look around the courtyard. You could go in so many things, like the Dursley’s house and the greenhouses, plus you could walk along the bridge where Lupin talks to Harry.
Warts, veins, and goblins. The next section was all about hair and makeup. You could also learn all about the slugs that Ron throws up in the second movie: there was different flavoured slime, Ron chose lemon so he could make all the disgusted faces he made because he hates lemon. As we took our footsteps forward, we gathered into Gringotts. We slowly dawdled in awe as we looked up at the bright chandelier. Did you know that in the first movie, they used metal for the coins, rather than plastic? Mist coming through the door, and we wondered what it was. stepping forward a dragon greeted us with a great roar, but we were comforted with the buzz of Diagon Alley. The streets were crowded with people but we pushed our way through. Puking pastilles and ten-second spot removers were what caught our eye in Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. Fake snow glistened all around the model of Hogwarts, making it look truly magical!
